Director's Notes: |
Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grille was given to me to read by Sherman Wayne a year ago. It's a complicated piece and not well known; it was first produced at the Harold Prince Theatre, University of Pennsylvania in December of 1986. I fell in love with the characters (though some of them do some pretty awful things), the setting and the message, which I believe is most timely in lieu of global warming and how man has abused himself and our beautiful planet. All members of the cast have worked at T/P before except Stephen Knight, who has adapted quickly and is a strong addition to this fine cast. Karin Huebner, our stage manager (who is also my tennis instructor) always brings such enthusiasm and passion to her job. Cindy Dellinger, my producer, is on her 10th production with me and as always keeps me on target and focused. I'm grateful as always for talents of the production/design team: Sherry Coon, Andy Frew, Dennis Owens, Bill Prachar, Joanne Reich and Sherman Wayne. We all hope you enjoy your evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grill.
